Puri, May 8 : The expert committee has expressed concern over poor documentation of the Jagamohan of the 12th century Jagannath temple before de-plastering.
The committee members examined the ongoing repair works to the main entrance gate -lions gate and de-plastering work of the Jagamohan of the Sri Jagannath temple yesterday.
During the inspection, it was found that about two thousand square meters area of the Jagamohan has been de plastered which had revealed a number of large cracks threatening the structure.
The iron trusses were fixed to the Jagamohan during the British rule in a poor state and these were unable to bear the huge load and as a result the structure has tilted to east.
The committee suggested to replace these with steel trusses. Read more.
