
Cornell is reimagining what archaeology means to us, creating the Cornell Institute of Archaeology and Material Studies, which will encompass faculty from five departments (anthropology, classics, history of art, landscape architecture and Near Eastern studies) and two colleges (CAS and CALS).
In research news, a team led by J. C. Séamus Davis has shown that a particular superconductive iron underdoped with cobalt conducts electricity along only one axis, encountering a lot of resistance moving crosswise. The findings continue to help scientists define the characteristics of superconductors.
